HOME!

I am home. I am still sick. But at least I get to be sick in peace and on my own terms.

More than anything--more even than that shower that I really need right now--I just want to sleep. In the hospital there were so many nighttime tests and botherings that my sleep was terrible and I think that impairs healing worse than anything.

I'll shower in the morning. Afternoon. Whenever I get up. It's my own fucking decision for once.

I'm so glad to be home.

  2. Glad you're home!

I suspect that if hospitals tried harder to make people comfortable that they would heal better. Placebo effects tell us there's a lot our minds have to do with healing that we don't understand.

  4. Congratulations & wishes for further healing. I haven't commented here often, but do appreciate your blog very, very much. You're witty, sexy, snarky, serious and funny, and you have some great commenters.

  5. Mousie - The biggest thing, for me, was sleep. I know, based on many, many experiences, that I can't heal so much as a common cold if I don't sleep. Nappy-time is when my immune system works its magic. And my 1 AM injection followed by my 3 AM vitals followed by my 5 AM blood draw seemed to rather defeat that.

  6. Holly, I'm under the impression that all humans do most of their healing when asleep. You would think hospitals could incorporate that idea into their scheduling.

I especially wonder about the necessity of the 3 AM vitals and 5 AM blood draw - defensive medicine?

  7. Welcome home, and feel better soon.

I agree, the constant interference from hospital staff is not conducive to rest and healing.
