Turn-off.

You know, I think of myself as fairly open-minded, but I absolutely cannot conceive of a relationship with anyone who spells "you" as "u", under any circumstances.

  1. Oh god, I am so with you. My own experience with OKCupid was short lived partly for this reason. I remember getting messages from a man whose main technique was making suggestive comments about vegetables, and who couldn't spell "weak".
I don't get text speak. Surely it actually takes more brain energy to think yourself and your fingers out of typing normally, and make up bollocks words like "gud" and "wen".

  2. I may very well be a snob, but I feel exactly the same way about someone who spells 'come' (as in to orgasm/ejaculate) 'cum'.

  3. I try not to be a snob about that kind of thing, but I always hear the words in my head when I read, and "u" is always pronounced "oo." I can't make it work.

  4. I'm the same way, except for me it's people who type "to" (or "too") as the number "2".

  5. I have a similar response to people who think that capitalisation abuse is an essential kink for d/sers.

  6. Though it kill my thumbs while texting, I must spell out the words.
