Why haven't I posted this week?
Because this:
I had two badly infected teeth pulled on Monday, and well, without getting graphic, it has
not been a smooth recovery. I've spent the week in a state alternating between Vicodin haze and "oh God I don't want to have a mouth any more."
I'll try and have new content up by Tuesday at the latest.
Sorry to hear that - no matter how much pain we can take, dental pain is way beyond the pale. Yuck! Hope you're back up to snuff soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, fucking ow! Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, ouch! That sounds horrible. Mouth pain is just the worst. I'm glad the infected teeth are out, and I hope you heal quickly and painlessly from now on.
ReplyDeleteSherryH
Been there, and it sucks. On the bright side, at least you have some who loves you looking after you. :)
ReplyDeleteDental work is never fun. I hope you get better quickly - we all miss your blogging!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Just feel better, first!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteouch! Sending good vibes.
ReplyDeleteOh Dental Pain Road... I have travelled it many a time. It is the shittiest of journeys. Take your time, focus on healing before blogging, the world can wait. Sending wishes for good health and a happier mouth soon.
ReplyDeletei've got a new National Geographic with many animals i can sacrifice on your behalf [what? if ancient Greeks "tricked" Zeus into accepting just the bones and fat, i can convince Goddess to accept the pictures! lol]
ReplyDeleteseriously, dental pain SUCKS - oxycotin doesn't affect it in my case. GoodThought(tm) sent to you!
Mouth pain is the worth. People never believe this, but having my wisdom teeth out was worse than childbirth (no painkiller, induced childbirth, at that). Get well soon, Holly.
ReplyDeleteI have had induced, no painkiller childbirth, and also wisdom teeth out, and I concur.
DeleteSympathy. Both chronic and acute pain suck.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. Can you imagine the pain of a root canal not properly anesthesized?
ReplyDeleteAgh, that's the worst. I'm so sorry! Hope you're feeling 1000x better.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!
ReplyDeleteBlagh, dental pain is the shits. I'm phobic about it, so I am terrified for you and hope you have the speediest of recoveries.
ReplyDeleteTeeth extraction didn't stop the Bumble from putting the star on top of the Christmas tree, did it?
ReplyDeleteSlacker.
Wow, I am so not old enough to know what you're talking about.
Delete:)
DeleteStop talking yourself up about that shit with the Christmas tree. That was years ago, find a new accomplishment.
DeleteHealing is important. In the meantime, this made me think of your blog... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fZK75pXLlbY
ReplyDeleteThey pulled the teeth while they were still infected?! I didn't think they were supposed to do that. :( Hope it improves fast.
ReplyDeleteI mean, what would they do? Wait until they get MORE infected? Or the infection to potentially spread to other parts? Yikes, no - PULL THEM FUCKERS OUT, DENTIST!
DeleteAnd get better soon, Holly! I miss your insight.
They gave me antibiotics for a couple weeks before pulling the teeth.
DeleteRebecca - Dentists generally won't pull a tooth with a real active infection, because that can spread the infection and because the Novocaine won't work. Hence the antibiotics first.
Didn't know it would affect the anaesthetic - though there can be real complications if a bad infection spreads. That said, if it doesn't respond to antibiotics (or doesn't respond well/quickly enough) I guess they've got to make the call.
DeleteI was confused when I started reading the comic and then it finally clicked at the end. Where did you find that? I couldn't stop laughing. That sucks about your teeth though!
ReplyDeleteIt's from XKCD! There's a link in small print right underneath.
DeleteI'm a lurker who never really had anything to say, so yeah, hi. All I can say is damn, Holly, and I hope you feel a lot better soon!

ReplyDeleted'aww, get better soon
ReplyDeletei had a couple teeth pulled a few months ago. everything i ate tasted like blood for a few days afterwards. it sucks.
I had wondered where you got to, so thanks for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteGood vibes to you and your remaining teeth, no one here minds in the least when you post so long as your looking after yourself and getting better.
Rest up and relax as much as is possible with your teeth doing the evils on you.
Wishing you well with recovery. Sending good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeletei hope you get better soon! (first comment here). PS: I really need to do another archive binge of xkcd
