Meetup!

Boston-area Pervocrats! Exciting news!

In conjunction with the blog Manboobz, we are holding a Pervocracy-Manboobz Joint Meetup!

We'll meet at 6:00 PM on Friday the 17th, at the Prudential Center food court in downtown Boston (access via the Green Line or a short walk from Back Bay Station on the Orange Line; parking at the Pru is obscenely expensive and not recommended). We'll talk about issues of interests to crotchety humorless feminists, frivolous fun-feminists, sexually deviant feminists, and "I have a big complex objection to the word feminist but am basically an ally"s alike!

Apologies for the short notice; if I get a big response from people saying "I could've made it, but" I might organize a second one.

I have a lot of smart and snappy readers and I know quite a few of you are in Boston; come on out and say hi.

EDIT: For Fetlife members, the event page is here.

  1. I could have made it, but...

Actually, I probably couldn't have made it, because if I didn't already have plans, I'd probably be stuck working too late to get to Boston by that time. But if you ever have a weekend meet-up...

  2. Actually, Fnord, that is a useful "could have made it, but." This was kind of a spontaneous thing with Manboobz, and if people are interested I'll do a more organized Pervocracy munch/meetup later.

  3. I would have liked to go! It would involve a train ride and an overnight stay (this is not a big deal, this is basically me going anywhere - boonies!) and I'm of course working Thursday/Friday/Saturday so it is really a no-go for that particular date. But I would like to be kept abreast (aboobz?) of further developments.

  4. I could have made it, but I'm about twelve states away. :)

  5. Oh, man! I would love to meet you, but alas, I live way far away.

  6. Would have loved to have made that! Unfortunately there aren't quite enough child free hours available to me on short notice.

  7. Okay, I am definitely going to plan one with longer notice. I'll look at my schedule and see for a month or so from now.

  8. Jealous! Again! I could have made it but... I am in Arizona >.<

  9. If I come, will I be oppressing people with my testicles and black attire and fancy "opinions"? ;-)

  10. Drew - You can come as long as you leave your testicles at home, or locked in a safe place.

  11. (No, um, obviously you're welcome to come. Testicles and all.)

  12. Dang. I'd love to show up, and I'm local, but that's the one week I'll be visiting the other coast.

  13. Drew -- another appearance by the Black-Clad Dominants would appear to be in order.

  14. Holly, my testicles don't believe in safe places.

  15. How very unfortunate for your testicles.

  16. Hrrrm. I MIGHT be able to make it.

Will the place be trans-friendly? (I know no presumptions can be made for multi-friendliness, not exactly something that comes up in casual conversation...)

  17. Rogan - The meetup should be trans-friendly--everyone I know who's RSVPed so far is--and since it's ultimately my meetup, I can talk to (or kick out) anyone who acts transphobic or clueless. I'd love to see you there.

  18. RE: Holly

Righto. It'll depend how well I'm feeling (trying to return to work, see how my stitched-up body takes it), and on my doctors appointments, but I might give it a shot.

I'll be sure to flash you so you can ogle our sexy scars. :D

  19. I will be on the other side of the country, unfortunately. If you hold another, similar event, though, I'll do my best to attend!

  20. This is awesome. Wish I could be there.

  21. I, too, wish I could be there!

  22. I'd come, but that's my anniversary.
    In Illinois.
    :D

  23. I can maybe make it, but I have to be back in Newport by 11:00 pm for work. Also, if I do show up you might find out that I'm not actually a small dog.

  24. I could've made it! If I weren't on another continent, maybe... XD

  25. I want to do this! Lurker-friendly?

    ReplyDelete
  26. This would be ridiculously fun. I wish I lived closer!

  27. Oh my...I am PEA-GREEN with (the good kind of) envy. I wish I could join the party...sounds like a great opportunity to make some new friends and talk A LOT about favorite subjects. Please give us a debrief afterwards and maybe the idea will spread to regional meetups? :)

  28. Well if it's lurker friendly...

Will be there late, closer to 7.

  29. Bah. I'm not fully recovered yet and have to set up for Rhode Island Pride the next morning, so I won't be attending after all. But I'm sure Drew will oppress for both of us quite adequately...

  30. I would have loved to come! I'm usually in the area, too.
