Theory.

Fucking sleep deprivation. This evening wasn't a matter of getting laid or not, it was a matter of pulling off my road and sleeping in my car because I didn't have what it took to even drive home. Cripes.

----

A friend recently suggested what I think is a brilliant theory: the best Doms are people who can get away with dead baby jokes. There's a certain personality that can say things that, in their words, completely violate my ideas of what's okay to even joke about, but I find myself laughing so hard I can't breathe. (Note that it's not just a matter of telling disgusting jokes, because I know some people who really can't get away with them.) And these people are generally the same ones I would consider to be very confident and sexy dominants.

It's the same concept, I guess, of making you enjoy something you wouldn't normally, and of knowing how to break the rules of society without just being an asshole. And it seems to be a common trait of the same Alpha Geek personality that Doms tend to have, too. Or maybe it's just a sign of someone who's very socially confident, and confident people are great in bed, and I only know about Doms because of my own biases. All I know is that if someone can get away with the "what's the best thing about fucking a four-year old?" joke, they can generally get away with making me call them Daddy.

  1. Q: How many rape apologists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: It doesn't matter, the lightbulb was asking for it.

(I made that up on the spot. I blame you for the inspiration. ;-P )

  2. I think, Not Me, that you might not be one of those people who can get away with it.

  3. My personal take on jokes is that no subject is completely off limits, but it takes the right kind of person to do certain subjects well.

I think that's what gets missed out when I tell people what they said wasn't funny, or when comedians get called out on shitty things they say in their acts. No one is saying you can't make a joke about those subjects AT ALL (well, some are, but I'm being optimistic here in my estimation that most people are not), but rather that simply having those subjects be the focus of a joke does not automatically equal funny. Or "edgy", for that matter. I think too many people hide behind it.

    Basically, I agree.

  4. Wow. I just re-read my comment and all I can say is that I, too, am extremely sleep deprived today.

  5. What do you call a dead baby in a trilby?

    Good sex.

  6. What is the best thing about fucking a four year old? That it's the equivalent of fucking two two year olds?

Seriously, I never heard this joke before AND I NEED CLOSURE.

  7. Perversecowgirl - The best part of fucking a four-year-old is, indeed, pretending it's two two-year-olds.

    What's the best part of fucking a two-year-old? Pretending it's two one-year-olds.

What's the best part of fucking a one-year-old?

  8. You know, I've honestly never met anyone who can make that kind of thing funny to me (although I've met a lot of people who think they can).

I also have yet to meet a male dom who didn't make me want to punch him in the face. I wonder if the two things are connected...

  9. aebhel: You may have dom confused with masochist, there :P

  10. Q: What's the worst thing about raping a three-year-old?

A: Washing the blood out of your clown suit.

Q: If Gary Coleman was alive today, what would he be doing?

A: Scratching the bejesus out of the lid of his tiny little coffin.

  11. No longer reading comments on this post because, well, there's just nothing funny about that.

Ha! Like how I tell my bf he's like fucking two 13 year olds.

    What's the best part of fucking a two-year-old? Pretending it's two one-year-olds.

    Hee hee hee!

What's the best part of fucking a one-year-old?

    Too far. :(

  13. The more I think about this post, and the comments, the more disgusting and disturbing it is. To think that not long ago people who were up in arms at the mere suggestion that a woman may have possibly made a bad choice and put herself in an unsafe situation which resulted in her being raped are the same people now making jokes about raping babies, and no one is saying a word about how absolutely sick that is, is just horrifying.

There is never, under any circumstances, anything even remotely funny about raping a child, especially when the "punchline" is about the resulting physical injury to the child.

How anyone can hear something like that, and think there is any humor in it, is beyond me.

  14. I need to point out here that I, personally, am not any kind of Dom, and that's probably why people are so put out.

  15. I'm not put out, I'm squicked out. And I really don't think your lack of Domliness has anything to do with it.

  16. Ugh. Okay. I don't think that raping children is funny, I'm just used to it being funny because it's about the worst imaginable thing. This is really, really hard to sell in text rather than in person, and I don't want to try and convince anyone that it's funny, because that's not an area for convincing. But... it does make me laugh. I know that doesn't necessarily excuse a thing, I know all these arguments could be used for racist and sexist jokes, but... I just think it's funny, is all. Not good, not commendable, funny. And rather disconnected from actual child abuse in my mind.

If it helps, I've never raped a baby and I totally would never.

  17. I think there's actually a good analysis of humor in this, and the way people process it. It's not just a matter of the way the punchline is delivered--some people do not and never will find certain kinds of jokes funny, and it's not because they have no sense of humor.

Personally, I think dead-baby jokes, child-rape jokes, and any other kind of humor that amounts to 'people who didn't deserve it got hurt or killed AND THAT'S HILARIOUS' are disgusting, childish, and not even the slightest bit witty, and there's no comic delivery that could make me change my mind about that. Most of this is probably because I'm not one of those people who processes horrible situations by laughing at them. Some people do. Different strokes. And that's about as non-judgmental as I can get on the subject.

    Dorkie-- exactly.

  18. But, is having a response of laughter necessarily identical with finding something funny?
